Month of the Year | First Grade | Digital Math Activities

Month of the Year is a completely interactive digital lesson for pupils in Kindergarten and 1st grade with lots of opportunities to practice math skills using a calendar.

In this lesson, learners will be able to Recognize and sequence the months of the year:

• Identify and name all twelve months of the year in order (January, February, March, etc.).
• Demonstrate the ability to list the months of the year sequentially.

• Understand the concept of a year:
  • Define a "year" as consisting of twelve months.
  • Recognize that months repeat in a cycle and that they make up a larger unit of time called a year.

  • Discuss and describe typical weather and activities for each season.

• Use the months of the year in daily life:
  • Identify the current month.
  • Determine the month that comes before and after the current one.
  • Discuss and plan activities or events based on the time of year.

• Learn the abbreviations for months:
  • Recognize and understand the common abbreviations for months (e.g., Jan, Feb, Mar, etc.).
  • Practice writing and using these abbreviations when necessary.
