Description

This google doc provides you with the first 3 weeks of school (August) 45-minute lesson plans for:

  • Kindergarten
  • First Grade
  • Second Grade
  • Third Grade
  • Fourth Grade
  • Fifth Grade

Books needed for these lessons:

First Day Jitters by Julie Danneberg

School's First Day of School by Adam Rex

Splat the Cat First Day of School by Rob Scotton

The Invisible Boy by Trudy Ludwig

The Library Lion by Michelle Knudsen

The google doc is editable, so you could change books easily. I teach on a busy fixed schedule so I like to keep my plans simple. This is the reason I normally read the same book to more than one grade level. Plus, the more I read it the better I get!

I have also included a Library Scavenger Hunt for your students to become familiar with the library. It is best for second and third grade, as they have to read the hunt (example-Find a book in the Fiction section and write the title here).
