Are you looking for a way to help your students with Dyslexia or who are otherwise struggling with early reading skills?

As a special educator in a public Montessori School, I wanted a more systematic approach to teaching the basics of phonics that worked in the Montessori Classroom. So I created this Intervention Kit to help fill out the gaps in many Montessori Language Programs.

This digital Bundle contains sequential lessons aligned with the Pink, Blue, and Green Series, but broken down into an easier to use progression that follows the Orton-Gillingham approach.

The Pink Series contains 6 separate lessons based on specific phonics patterns. Each lesson contains 5 parts:

Part 1: Phonemic Awareness

Part 2: Word/Picture Matching (Decoding)

Part 3: Word Building (Encoding)

Part 4: Word Reading

Part 5: Sentence Matching

The 6 lessons follow an Orton-Gillingham inspired progression for CVC (Consonant-Vowel-Consonant)

PS 2-Short o
PS 3-Short e
PS 4-Short i
PS 5-Short u
PS 6-Word Families-“Glued Sounds” -an, -am

This Blue Series contains 7 separate lessons based on specific phonics patterns. Each lesson contains 5 parts:

Part 5: Sentence Matching

The 7 lessons of the Blue Series follow an Orton-Gillingham inspired progression for digraphs and blends

Bl 1-Digraphs: ch, sh, th, -ck
Bl 2-S Blends: sc, sk, sn, sp, st, sl
Bl 3-L Blends: bl, cl, fl, gl, pl, sl
Bl 4-R Blends: br, cr, dr, fr, gr, tr
Bl 5-Three Letter Blends: scr, spl, spr, str, shr
Bl 6-FLOSS Rule: -ff,-ll, -ss, -zz
Bl 7-Ending Blends: -nd, -nk, -nt, -mp, -lp, -lt

The Green Series set contains 12 separate lessons based on specific phonics patterns. Each lesson contains 5 parts:

Part 1: Phonemic Awareness

Part 2: Word/Picture Matching (Decoding)

Part 3: Word Building (Encoding)

Part 4: Word Reading

Part 5: Sentence Matching

The 12 lessons of the Green Series follow an Orton-Gillingham inspired progression for CVCe words, vowel teams, and diphthongs:

GS 1-Long a & e with “Bossy e”: a_e, o_e
GS 2-Long i, u, & e with “Bossy e”: i_e, u_e, (e_e)
GS 3-R-controlled vowels: ar, or
GS 4 R-controlled vowels: er, ir, ur
GS 5 Vowel Teams Long a: ai, ay, a
GS 6-Vowel Teams Long e: ea, ee, y (happy)
GS 7-Vowel Teams Long i: ie, igh, y (cry)
GS 8-Vowel Teams Long o: oa, ow, oe
GS 9-Vowel Teams Long u (variant): ue, oo (soon), ew
GS 10-Diphthongs: ou/ow
GS 11-Diphthongs: oy/oi, aw
GS 12-Other Vowels: oo (book), oul (could)

After a student completes all lessons, they can complete the traditional Montessori Pink, Blue, or Green Series activities as a review. The set can be used for a spelling program as well.

These activities can easily be adapted for any classroom, not just Montessori rooms!

Also included are a Student Recording Document, Progress Monitoring Document for teachers, and a Printable Moveable Alphabet including common phonics.
