Description
Teach students about mitosis without confusing them with the separate and different cell process of meiosis! Students will focus on the purpose of mitosis for daily growth and healing before they dive into the complexities of each step. After they record notes in their interactive science notebooks about each phase of mitosis, they will use their creativity to create a ‘motion picture’ to showcase the cell cycle.
This product contains assignments that lead students toward answering a guiding question via a Learning Target. Students accomplish this by completing digital Google Docs and Slides-based assignments and a Google Form formative quiz. They will also use assignments to collect data and add notes into an interactive science notebook. (In my classroom all students have a composition notebook for this purpose)
This resource contains all 4 of the tiered playlists that develop student's depth of knowledge through assignments that flow along a hierarchical structure inspired by Blooms taxonomy. This playlist follows the Ski Slope Model of Teaching as a way to structure and communicate "where we are '' in the unit of study. Those resources are, in order; (Green Circle), [Blue Square], <Black Diamond>, and <>Double Black Diamond<> playlists.
This resource contains materials which address aspects of the following Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS): NGSS MS-LS1-2, NGSS MS-LS1-3, NGSS HS-LS1-4
*These resources have been used in a real-life middle school science classroom with real-life students in Colorado!
