What educators are saying

I used this with one of my unilateral hearing impaired preschooler. I love how this is organized! I used it in therapy and then sent a black and white copy home with the parents to continue to work on it at home. Awesome product.
Perfect for auditory discrimination tasks! I used this to supplement informal articulation and phonological awareness testing during assessment.

    Description

This product includes everything you need to target minimal pairs differing by sound feature! The product includes 284 minimal pair cards, as well as 20 minimal pair scenes! They were created using the Auditory Discrimination Hierarchy, or Listening Ladder, created by Dave Sindrey, M.Cl.Sc., LSLS Cert. AVT. This hierarchy was created to be used with students with hearing loss, as they acquire spoken language through listening; however, the cards may also be used with students with normal hearing working on auditory processing or auditory discrimination goals.

The hierarchy begins at level 1, with sounds differing by duration, intensity and pitch. It progresses by difficulty though ten steps, ending with discrimination of words with final consonants differing by place of articulation.

To use cards: Print the pages, and cut out the cards (4 per page). Present individual cards to the student with the stimulus, “Show me ______.”

To use scenes: Either print or use digitally (on iPad or shared computer screen). Targeted words are listed on the side of each scene. Present in random order, "Show me _____."

This is a great resource for determining baselines, providing practice, or measuring progress on auditory discrimination!
