This is a two-week literature guide for the book titled The Tanglewoods' Secret. The original book was by Patricia St. John; this mini-guide is for the edition that was revised by Mary Mills.
In this book, Ruth and Philip are staying with their aunt in England while their parents work in India. Ruth struggles with behavior issues; then she finds the Good Shepherd and life changes in many ways.
The guide is part of the Christmas Classic series because the last chapter is titled "A Perfect Christmas," but it can be read, studied, and enjoyed at any time of the year.

An Introduction to Patricia St. John and Her Writing
The guide contains ten sections; these components are included:
- vocabulary activities
- discussion questions
- reading activities – Students will: predict, read about the author, draw a sketch or color in a picture, formulate conclusions, write a letter, fill in a conflict chart, verify predictions, compare/contrast, identify a main idea/ support details, and create a motto. Students will learn about: place and time settings, point of view, similes, dialect, alliteration, irony, decisions, cliffhangers, plants (hints), protagonist, plot, sequence, effect/cause, and analogy.

This is an interactive guide that enables parents/teachers to facilitate an oral discussion of the book, but it only provides space for one student to complete fill-in-the-blank activities. If you are interested in using this guide with more than one student, check out the options:

NOTES:
1) When you purchase one set of reproducibles, you have permission to make a copy for each of your students.
2) An Answer Key is NOT provided for the reproducibles; the answers for the activities on the sheets are found at the end of the mini-guide.
2) The guide is also available in workbook format. Purchase the guide in workbook format if you want your students to write all of the answers:

You do not need the reproducibles if you purchase the guide in workbook format; all of the fill-in-the-blank activities are included in the workbook.
