Middle School or High School Art Curriculum, Drawing & Watercolor, 15 Projects

This course welcomes all middle or high school visual art students, regardless of prior art experience, and provides a diverse range of engaging lessons introducing the captivating world of drawing and watercolor painting. Students are encouraged to explore personal style and creativity. Creative problem-solving and the creative process will be highlighted.

Students will learn to create beautiful watercolor paintings, explore isometric perspective and compositional elements, and delve into ink and charcoal techniques, among other exciting topics. A Student Choice Framework allows students to choose their own projects that apply the skills they've learned throughout the semester, with a point requirement and framework that makes it easy to use and implement. Task cards that include drawing and painting prompts and brain booster project idea task cards will give students valuable ideas for creating their own amazing work.

An art portfolio will serve as a final grade for this class. Students will collect their artwork throughout the course and keep a finished portfolio of their work. Students will be asked to reflect on their work at the end of the semester.
