Description

Welcome to my Money & Banking project in Excel. This project combines computer skills with money and banking lessons. At the beginning of each class, you will give provided clues to a secret computer term. During class, you will include this term in your instruction. At the end of class, give the clues again and have your students write down the answer. The next class, you will give out "blessing bucks", Monopoly money, Students get 2 for a right answer and 1 for trying. The results are recorded on the spreadsheets that you have built with your students. Simple formulas keep track of how many blessing bucks your students accrue during the 5 week period. The blessing bucks are collected at the end of each class to teach the students that they don't need the blessing bucks in their hand. The blessing bucks are represented in their "bank", the Excel spreadsheet. I included on winter secret word and an optional Christmas secret word since I did this unit around Christmas time. If you do these lessons more frequently than once a week, obviously, the unit will take less time.

Computer skills taught in this project include cells, cell address, rows, columns, merge and center, borders and formulas. No previous computer experience is required. My curriculum includes step by step, easy to follow lesson plans, a sample of the finished project, secret word clues and answers and a sheet of monopoly money to make copies from.

I hope you will consider purchasing my curriculum. My students loved doing this project. They came out of it with valuable computer skills as well as a better understanding of money and how a bank works. At the end of the unit, I brought in some candy and dollar store items for my students to buy with their blessing bucks. Happy saving and spending!! :)
