Description
Micro Fiction – Flash Fiction – Two-Sentence Stories – Sudden Fiction – Twitter Tales
Whatever you want to call them, super-short stories are a super-fun way to spend a single class period as you introduce teens to the idea that an entire story can exist within just two sentences.
Use this 20-slide overview lecture with eight compelling examples from four different genres (drama, horror, sci fi, and romance) to get your students’ creative wheels turning. (Slide deck is included in Prezi, PDF, and Google Slides versions.)
These materials will work as a stand-alone creative writing lesson, a buffer lesson between major units, and/or last-minute sub plans.
Use the materials as they are for middle school students and underclassmen, or increase the rigor for upperclassmen, challenging them with sentence combining suggestions included on the instructional options sheet. (See page 1 of the "1ReadThisFirst" file)
Product includes:
• Overview lecture slides to introduce the method and discuss 8 examples (two each for the following genres: drama, horror, sci fi, and romance) (20 slides with both offline and online options)
• Detailed directions with instructional options to increase/decrease the rigor of the assignment, as needed for your classes (1-page PDF)
• Modern-designed student handout that will get your teens excited about writing (1-page PDF and Google Drive version)
• Interactive classroom decor/display materials, including sample photos and printable display signage (4-page PDF)
