Description
This Smartboard presentation is a great way to explain and introduce the concept of metacognition to your students. The Smartboard explains that metacognition means "thinking about your thinking" while you read and explains how to use it as a reading strategy. Students get to make a "reading salad" to help them understand that text + their thinking = real reading. It is a great visual to provide students with.
Also, if you have students write reading responses in response to the independent reading they do in class, this Smartboard is a great way to help them start thinking about the different ways they can prove in writing that they were thinking while they read.
