What educators are saying

My students enjoyed using this resource to review for their Mono and Dihybrid quiz! It worked well on a day that I had to be at a training.
This was a great activity! I loved getting the kids up and the self checking nature of the activity. I plan to do similar activities for other topics in the future.

Description

Teaching Mendelian Genetics is foundational to every Life Science and Biology class during your Genetics Unit. Transform your lesson on Mendelian Genetics and increase student engagement with a fun and engaging QR Code Scavenger Hunt. At the end of this activity, your students will have shown you that they can describe and solve monohybrid and dihybrid crosses to predict probable genetic outcomes.

Checking student understanding made easy with this interactive QR code scavenger hunt. As students review the concepts of Mendelian Genetics, they will be provided automatic feedback on whether they are correct or incorrect, making this a resource that is all about giving students ownership of their learning.

In this activity, students will:

  • Determine parent genotypes and phenotypes from word problems
  • Predict offspring genotypes and phenotypes for both monohybrid and dihybrid crosses.

This activity includes:

  • 10 QR codes pages
  • Student Answer Sheet
  • Answer Key

Students will move around the room to answer questions and search for the correct answer at the top of a different QR Code page. I have designed this activity in a loop so that if students get an answer correct they will be led to the next number in the sequence (for example, number 4 leads to number 5 and so on...). In this way, students will be able to know instantly whether or not they have answered the question correctly, providing INSTANT FEEDBACK!

Be sure to get TPT credit for future purchases! Go to your My Purchases page once you are logged in to TPT. Beside each purchase you'll see a “Provide Feedback “button. Once you click it, you will be given the opportunity to leave a rating and short comment about the resource.

Apply concepts of statistics and probability to explain the variation and distribution of expressed traits in a population. Emphasis is on the use of mathematics to describe the probability of traits as it relates to genetic and environmental factors in the expression of traits. Assessment does not include Hardy-Weinberg calculations.
