What educators are saying
Description
This is a small group reader's theater for 4 students. It is intended to be an overview of the Greek gods. In the script, Hermes is introducing the audience to the Greek gods when Athena, Hades, and Zeus come to help. Together, they tell everyone about the Olympians. Each of the gods has their own favorites and not-so favorites. As they talk about the other Greek gods the audience will be able to tell who likes who. When the script is finished students will have heard the names of the Greek gods and what they were the god or goddess of. The writing prompt at the end asks students who their favorite Greek god is and why.
I use reader's theaters to encourage my students to practice fluency. It is a fun way to do something that they need. My scripts are written in black and white with only the occasional color picture on the front so that they are easier and cheaper to photocopy. The problem with many other reader's theaters is that students spend a lot of time waiting for their part. When you have a small group they get more practice and you get less off task behaviors.
My name is Melanie Whitesides but my store name is Wonbyone and I hope that your students enjoy this script as much as mine did. If you like this script look for other Greek tales. I have a lot of ones by Aesop! Let me know how things go!
