WHAT IS INCLUDED?

The calendar and morning meeting activities are compatible with Google Slides™ and PowerPoint™.

MAY CALENDAR

This comes with moveable numbers, holidays and birthday calendar pieces. It can be used year after year!

CALENDAR BASICS with SONGS

All of these slides have a playable song students can sing along with: how to spell the month May, all the months of the year, days of the weeks, today is _____, yesterday was _____, tomorrow will be _____, daily weather, counting by fives and tens, and how do you feel today?

DAYS IN SCHOOL

Two slides teach how many days we have been at school. One uses drag and drop tens/ones blocks, 1 more/1 less, even/odd and one slides uses ten frames to see how many days we have been in school.

WEATHER

One slide has a draggable piece to circle the weather and type what the weather is like each day. The other weather slide has draggable pieces to make a monthly weather bar graph.

LITERACY

An editable sight word slide is included, plus a letter of the day to practice the name and sound of each letter (with draggable pictures.)

Also included is a slide to practice sounding out CVC words by segmenting first, middle and last sounds. Practice 1-2 words each day with this slide, and repeat as needed.

This month we are also practicing long vowels! You can drag and drop the pictures and then move the letters to spell each word.

MATH

  • Students make and/or finish May themed patterns.
  • Money - type an amount into the editable box and drag and drop the coins to match
  • We practice telling time this month with editable analog and digital clocks.
  • Skip counting by fives and skip counting by tens (both slides have a playable song).
  • Drag and drop the teen numbers to put them in the correct order on the number line.
  • Count by 2's
  • Adding with shells - drag and drop the shells to the sandcastles and then fill in the equation to solve the addition problem.
  • Subtracting with sandcastles - the beach has ten sandcastles and you can remove and rearrange as many as you would like to show a subtraction problem.
  • Sums of five - play and sing along to a song to practice ways to make five. Then, on the next slide, drag/drop the beach balls and fill out the coordinating equation to make five.
  • How many more to make ten? This slide has a ten frame with moveable birds and an editable equation.
  • Ten more/ten less and one more/one less - drag the boxes to the hundreds chart and then fill out the color coordinated numbers.
  • Weight - drag and drop the objects to the correct side of the scale.
  • Adding and subtracting on a number line with moveable pieces
  • Make a number - drag and drop the hundreds/tens/ones blocks to build any number
  • More or less with numerals

LUNCH COUNT

Count how many students are having hot or cold lunch each day.

BIRTHDAYS

Write student names and their birthdays for the month on this one slide. This makes it so easy to keep track of all the birthdays each month.

HOW ARE YOU FEELING TODAY?

This slide has an adorable song to sing each day, and students can then share how they are feeling. This is a great check in each day and helps students put an emotion word to how they are feeling. You can write the number of students in each number box, and practice putting their names and emotions into the editable sentences (optional). For example: Hudson is feeling tired today.

MORNING MEETING

20 prompts are included (one for each school day in a month.)

I use real life pictures and questions each day.

The five themes are:

  1. Would you rather...
  2. True or false?
  3. Hypothetical question
  4. What would you do
  5. Thoughtful friend

Each day, show students one slide and have them think, pair share.

This will lead to great morning meeting discussions.

Editable slides are also included if you wish to add your own prompts and photos.

JOKES

Twenty adorable joke slides are included this month. Start each morning laughing with your students! Read the May themed joke to students and have them think/pair/share to what the answer could be. Move the button to reveal the answer and listen to all the giggles!
