Description
WHAT IS IT?
Matías, The Wolf in Space is an interactive application designed for a PC or a mobile device.
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
Its purpose is to help children develop logic and computational thinking, while entering the world of programming in a playful manner, as well as promoting mathematical logical thinking.
ADDRESSES
This resource is intended mainly for Nursery School children.

PEDAGOGICAL DESIGN
We have taken into account various aspects in its design:
First of all, the activities in the application are based on a series of principle methodological characteristicsfor early stages of development, such as the value of the game, observation and experimentation, strategies for problem solving, attention to diversity or knowledge building through the significant learning. All of these are approached from a globalising perspective.
On the other hand, as important motivating resources, we have specially taken into account the graphic design, the careful selection of the sound effects and the inclusion of musical pieces especially composed for the game.
Finally, we have made use of all of our pedagogical knowledge, along with our professional experience and background after 25 years teaching and working with young children.
CONTENT
Matías, who is always accompanied by his friend, the bird, travels in space.
The planets they visit and the mishaps suffered along the way, are the starting point of the activities in which children have to solve small problems.
They will be able to programme a sequence of the actions needed to solve the problem through a very intuitive interface.
There are 55 different activities with different level of difficulty, classified into three groups. A small story is presented in each group where a problem arises that needs solving.
TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS
The resource has been made with Flash.
We have developed two different versions, one of them for the use of a PC (specially recommended for interactive whiteboards) and the other one to be used in mobile devices, with Android (tested with mobiles from 4.1.1.).
