What educators are saying
Description
The following set of 24 anchor charts/posters (8 generic measurement anchor charts, 8 SI (metric) measurement anchor charts, and 8 Imperial measurement anchor charts) help provide support for students as they learn about different measurement concepts.
I like to have my posters enlarged, put onto 11 x 17 sized cardstock, and the images photocopied onto both sides of the card. I then hang them from wires that span my classroom. Students can then refer to them when they need help. They are very helpful.
The following product includes anchor charts/posters for the following IMPERIAL and METRIC measurement concepts:
-calendar introduction poster
-months of the year with abbreviations and number of days poster
-seasons of the year poster
-analog clock poster identifying hour, minute, second hands
-poster helping students identify which hand is which on a face clock
-examples of 2 different kinds of clocks - analog and digital clock poster
-reading clock on hour, half hour, and quarter hour poster
-reading the clock in five-minute increments poster
-measuring length using millimeters, centimeters, meters, and kilometers poster
-measuring length using inches, feet, yards, and miles poster
-examples of objects that are measured in millimeters, centimeters, meters, kilometer poster
-examples of objects that are measured in inches, feet, yards, and miles poster
-measuring perimeter using millimeters, centimeters, meters poster
-measuring perimeter using inches, feet, yards poster
-measuring mass using milligrams, grams, and kilograms poster
-measuring mass using ounces, pounds, and stones poster
-examples of objects that are weighed in milligram, gram, kilogram poster
-examples of objects that are measured in ounces, pounds, stones poster
-measuring capacity using milliliter and liter (when abbreviating milliliters and liters either ‘mL’ and ‘L’ or ‘ml’ and ‘l’ is acceptable I have chosen to use ‘mL’ and ‘L’)
-measuring capacity using fluid ounces, cups, pints, quarts, and gallons poster
-examples of objects that are measured using mL and L poster
-examples of objects that are measured using fluid ounces, cups, pints, quarts, and gallons poster
-measuring temperature in °C poster
-measuring temperature using °F poster
FYI
-when writing SI measurement abbreviations, you do not use periods when you abbreviate the words. – e.g. mm not mm.
-mL and L or ml and l for milliliters and liters – either is acceptable
-plural amount abbreviations do not use “s” – e.g. kg and not kgs
-a space should appear between the number and the abbreviation e.g. 2 kg not 2kg, and 5 yd. not 5yd.
I hope you find these posters helpful as you teach your students all about measurement.
Regards, Clare
