Description

Most days it seems nearly impossible to get everything done in my classroom. As I'm planning my lessons, inevitably I start searching for activities that will engage and excite my students AND accomplish the learning task at hand. I've found, more often than not, that I am looking for an activity that either doesn't exist or is very difficult to find. When I run into this road block, I make my own. This is how this product was born. :)

This task card set will walk your students through daily practice of identifying triangles, classifying triangles, and finding the measure of missing angles.

I've included this product in two digital forms: PDF to print for task cards and Microsoft Powerpoint for whole group use. I like this type of flexibility because when I use an activity like this from year to year, I prefer to have the choice in its execution based upon the needs of the group of students I have in that year.

The task cards can be used as math stations (my personal preference) or they can be used as daily reinforcement and practice of the topic of triangles.

The slide show can be utilized in many ways. The first slide shows the question or problem and the slide that immediately follows shows the correct answer. Depending upon the needs of your classroom and students, you can:

• Review the slide show as a whole group and work the problems and solutions together

• Review the slide show as a whole group and invite students to the front to work the problems and solutions as example problems

• Allow students to work in small groups (I prefer no more than three students working together to facilitate good conversations that engage all children in the group) as teams with the teacher showing the slide to the class as a whole. Students come up with team names and earn points as a team for each question they respond to correctly. Teams are given one white board, Expo marker, and eraser. As the problems are shown to the whole group, students discuss the problems and solutions in their small groups. They write the final answers on their white boards. The teacher asks to see final answers, to which all teams raise their white boards with their answers. Teams with the correct answers receive one point. At the end of the slide presentation, the team(s) with the most points wins. (I let the winning team have treats from my class treat jar, a homework pass, etc.) This is my preference for reviewing, as I find it to be most engaging for my students.

Of course you can use both formats in any manner that works for you and your classroom. I'd love for you to share new ways you're using these with your students. It will give me other ideas to use with the task cards in my classroom with my own students. :)

The best part about this product? It's NO PREP. YOU JUST PRINT AND COPY IT! There's nothing to cut out! There's nothing to color! If you're like me, this is a MUST HAVE for any product I purchase. I need it to make my life EASIER! This product will do just that - simplify your life in your classroom.
