    Description

    Get your students out of their seats as they practice solving challenging math problems! Students solve problems and then search around the classroom for puzzle pieces with the matching answer. They cut and paste each puzzle piece to a grid, which will ultimately make a silly picture!

    The questions in this resource are rigorous and require multiple steps and use of critical thinking skills.

    Skills Included:

    1. Number Sense (requires knowledge of place value up to 50,000)
    2. Addition & Subtraction (multi-step problems up to 999,999)
    3. Long Division (4 digit dividends by 1 digit divisors, with and without remainders)
    4. Decimals (add, subtract, multiply and divide decimals)
    5. Multiplication (3 digits x 1 digit, 4 digits x 1 digit, 2 digits x 2 digits, 3 digits x 2 digits)
    6. Multiples & Factors (greatest common factors and least common multiples)
    7. Fractions (fraction word problems that work well with bar models)
    8. Algebraic Thinking (basic equations with letters and symbols)
    9. Area & Perimeter (area and perimeter of rectangles)
    10. Elapsed Time (elapsed minutes and hours)

    These scavenger hunt puzzles are designed to be enrichment for fourth grade students. They could also be used with some advanced third grade students, and are great practice for fifth grade students. Please take a look at the preview of each puzzle to determine if these problems are appropriate for your students.

    An answer key is provided for every question in each puzzle, with a detailed explanation of each answer. The puzzle pieces are provided in both grayscale and color for your printing convenience.
