Description

The following is a set of 18 anchor charts that I have created to hang in my classroom to provide support for students as they learn about Canadian bills and coins.

The anchor charts are designed to fit onto 11 x 17 sized cardstock or paper. I have my anchor charts photocopied onto both sides of the cardstock, laminated and hanging from a wire that spans my classroom, so that students can refer to them as they work through my money unit.

This anchor chart collection includes one each of the following anchor charts:

- a Canadian coin overview anchor chart showing a picture of each coin, its name, and two ways of writing each coin, and the Canadian symbol appearing on each coin

- 6 individual anchor charts for each coin (nickel, dime, quarter, fifty-cent piece, loonie, and toonie) showing a picture of the front and back of the coin, the value of the coin written in two ways, and a picture of the symbol appearing on the coin

- a Canadian Bills overview anchor chart showing both sides of each bill, and the values of each bill written in words and using the dollar sign

- an anchor chart showing how many nickels make up each coin

- an anchor chart showing how many dimes make up each coin

- an anchor chart showing how many quarters make up each coin

- an anchor chart showing how many of each coin make a loonie

- an anchor chart showing how many of each coin make a toonie

- an anchor chart showing how to add coins

- an anchor chart showing how to add bills and coins

- 3 anchor charts each showing a different way to make change 1. Making change by subtracting, 2. Making change by adding on, 3. Making change by trading bills and coins (I like to teach my students each of these ways, and then they find the way they are most comfortable with.)

I also have a packet of student worksheets complete with a teacher answer booklet called Canadian Money Counting Bills and Coins and Making Change (also available) that I use in conjunction with these anchor charts when I teach money.
