Description

This is a project that is great for the intermediate grades! Students select a book to enter into a class March Madness: Battle of the Books Tournament. They will create a persuasive poster and write a persuasive essay encouraging their classmates to vote for their book.

The books are put into brackets and voted on during multiple weeks. It starts with the "Sweet 16," "Elite 8," "Final 4," and then a winner is determined.

This is a fun and seasonal way to review test prep skills such as persuasive writing, summarizing, genre, and persuasive techniques!

This activity can also be tied into Read Across America Week. It is great for 5th Grade PSSA Writing and Reading Review!

In this bundle, I have also included a Basketball Themed "Shooting to Read" Goal Card for AR.
