Map Skills Basic for Little People

Map Skills Basic for Little People has been updated to include some of the new Virginia 2015 History and Social Science SOL. It is design to help young children understand simple map skills. It offers them the ability to see different maps but the also the fun of manipulating different objects on a map. Many of the skills developed are relative location in position such as near/far, left/right, above/below, behind/in front, locating places on a map, and identifying the tools that help determine location such as a legend or compass rose.

Included: a blank coloring map of the United States with Rocky and Appalachian mountains, Pacific
and Atlantic Ocean cut-n-paste labels,
a compass rose cut-n-paste (new), variety of compass roses coloring sheet (new),
map legend cut-n-paste (new),
components of a map; design your own (new),
a globe coloring sheet (new),
an aerial view (new),
a blank map of the Earth with definitions of the words: model, map, and
globe to attach in a cut-n-paste,
design your own bedroom cut-n-paste,
design your own community cut-n-paste,
design your own rural map cut-n-paste,
design your own map,
page sheets to make a flip book of the maps listed above,
design your own classroom,
design your own playground,
relative location cut-n-paste, and
a community map from the past to sequence .
NOTE: The maps are scaled to print on legal size paper or on letter size.
