This creative and engaging package includes the following:

⭐Comprehension Questions: A complete set of comprehension questions for each of the eight parts of the novel. COMPLETE ANSWER KEY INCLUDED!!!

⭐Vocabulary Words and Vocabulary Activities: A complete set of Vocabulary words covering all the chapters of the novel, as well as activities to use to aid understanding of the vocabulary.

⭐Reading and Comprehension Strategy Notes: A page of notes on the different types of Reading and Comprehension strategies is included. This package includes a complete teacher version and a fill in the blank student version.

⭐Question Stems: A full page of information on the three different levels of questions is included. Level one questions ask students to think and search. These type of questions can be answered by looking directly at the text. Level two questions ask students to go beyond answers they find in the text, and asks them to think about what the author wants them to believe. Level three questions ask students to examine their own thinking. Answers for these types of questions cannot be found in the text, and relate to directly to the students own thinking. Different question stem examples are provided for each level of questioning. Students refer back to this page of information throughout the unit, as they are asked to create and answer their own questions using each of the different question levels.

⭐Reading and Comprehension Strategy Based Questions: A collection of handouts relating to each chapter of the novel. These handouts include a variety of Reading Strategy and Comprehension Strategy based questions, and require students to really THINK about the reading. Students are asked to make predictions, inferences, and connections (text to self, text to world, and text to text). Students are asked to visualize, through words and illustrations. Students are asked to analyze quotes from the novel, and evaluate the novel as a whole. Activities relating to summarizing, synthesizing, and questioning are also included.

⭐Reading and Comprehension Strategy Posters: Students can use these while reading, or as review at the end of the novel. Students answer the deep thinking questions and color the images on these fun posters. They make great additions to interactive notebooks or make beautiful classroom displays!

⭐Interactive Notebook Information: Multiple pages of information on Interactive Notebooks are included, as well as tips and tricks for setting them up successfully in your classroom.

⭐Pre-Reading Activity: An engaging pre-reading activity is included, to help access prior knowledge and get kids excited about the novel.

⭐Cobble’s Knot Challenge: An exciting final activity! Students research different types of knots, and create their own knot masterpieces. When complete, students face off in a knot untying challenge! Instructions and template included!

⭐Comic Book Summary Activity: Full instructions and template are included. Students can use this to summarize any section of the novel in comic book form.

⭐Close Reading Information and Annotation Guide: Multiple pages of close reading information are included, in case you would like students to annotate the novel as they read. A user friendly student annotation guide is also included.

⭐TPT Digital Easel Activity: A digital version of this resource has been included for you to use online with your learners. Answer keys and teacher pages have been removed so it is ready to assign. Text boxes have been added for you so students can easily type in their answers. Activities that are not suitable for digital learning, such as the Knot Challenge and graphic organizers that require artistic elements, have been removed from the online version of this resource.
