Making Text Connections Bundle

Product/Materials Preface:

This English Language Arts unit resource comes with a 2 page introduction that includes a mini-lesson and sentence lead-ins to Making Text Connections. You can chart these resources or use them as handouts. Next we have two visual aid posters, and I also included a notes page. I also have a PowerPoint for sale: MakingTextConnectionsPowerPoint

I have provided Twenty-Eight (28) unique graphic organizers to help you students make all four of the major text connections: Text-to-Text, Text-to-Self, Text-to-World, and Text-to-Media.

Because of the many variations you can choose from a multitude of forms to help differentiate your instruction for ELL/ESL, Special Education, and low-performing students. You can also up the anti with more rigor for students who are exceeding standards. Clearly, you can now cater to your students’ needs by pairing students with the right organizer.

When introducing (or reintroducing) the comprehension strategy, you should use these organizers to focus on a particular book you are studying. It can be a class novel or your students’ independent reading books. You can also use the organizers for group work, 1-to-1 tutoring, guided reading, book clubs, and literature circles. You are only limited by your imagination.
