Reading Strategy PowerPoint - Inferring

A PowerPoint designed to help teach inferring to students.

Includes a learning objective and three success criteria so that students are aware of the goals of the lesson. Explains what inferring is and why we infer. The PowerPoint also includes basic, step-by-step instructions on how to draw conclusions from the text using clues. There are several opportunities for students to practice inferring either independently or during a class discussion. The last slide provides students with a range of sentence starters (prompts) to help them get started with inferring.

Includes Google Slides access.
