Main Idea Paragraph Cards: Informational Text Passages
There are 28 informational text paragraph cards. The easier version includes 28 multiple choice cards. The more difficult version has the multiple choice options removed. Feel free to use the set that best suits your student’s needs.
Use them in pairs or use them orally in small groups. It’s also great for individual homework as a writing assignment. Another option is to use one card at a time with the entire class. A fun and challenging way to use them is by playing SCOOT. Directions are included.
You can choose from 2 recording sheets, multiple choice or the more challenging version which requires them to write out the main idea. The answer keys are also included.
In addition, there are two challenge cards included which ask students to recount supporting details and explain how they are related to the main idea.
These task cards are common core aligned to RI.3.2 Determine the main idea of a text; recount the key details and explain how they support the main idea.
Choose to print in color or grayscale.
Print and cut along the lines, laminate for durability.
