Description

The provided middle school guided reading stems provide Common Core level questions or statements that teachers can use to help students pause and reflect as they read complex literary and informational texts. The questions are rigorous and require students to use evaluation and analysis-level skills as they read. The question stems reflect the wording and rigor from numerous state test preparation materials and other teacher-created stems. Teachers can use these Common Core guided reading stems to expose students to the level of rigor that will match the wording of their individual state assessments. Each of the questions is separated by key content descriptor so that teachers can access the bank of questions that they desire. Additionally, a list of questions related to writing and language standards is provided and separated by domain to provide additional practice.
