Description

Teaching parts of speech can be difficult, so why not make it fun?! This product is a Martin Luther King Jr.-themed set of Color by Code Parts of Speech worksheets. There are 3 levels of difficulty, so you can easily differentiate with no prep. Just print and go! Every level comes in English AND in Spanish!

The product covers all 8 parts of speech: noun, verb, adjective, pronoun, adverb, preposition (prepositions of location), conjunction, and interjection.

As a bonus, bilingual (English/Spanish) notes and examples worksheets are included (for all 8 parts of speech) so that you can easily pre-teach the content.

Teaching tip: I add some glitter to the worksheet pages when the kids are finished and use them as Black History Month classroom decor. They look great!

This resource also works great as a sub plan! The MLK Day -themed worksheets are simple to understand and are great confidence boosters for a challenging topic. I have used this myself in my own ESL classroom and the students loved it.

This product is a great activity for the Language Arts, Communications, or ESL classroom!

Additionally, this is a perfect opportunity to help Multilingual Learners (new name for ESL students) understand American culture. Martin Luther King Day is a big deal in the United States, and many other countries have similardays of remembrance that students can make connections with. This fun resource will expose your multilingual learners to the importance of Dr. King, while learning English grammar.

The content and tasks in this resource align to the following state standards:

WIDA Standard 1: Social and Instructional Language

WIDA Standard 2: Language of Language Arts

Common Core ELA (I tagged them for 6th grade, but they apply to all).

Colored answer keys included!
