MEMORIA CON GLI AGGETTIVI POSSESSIVI

Have you ever played the game of memory as a child? Try this Italian version of memory with your students!

OBJECT: to find a match, but unlike in the traditional game of memory that you may be familiar with, the object of this game is find a grammatical match by matching a possessive adjective to a noun that is agrees with. It is intended to help students understand that the possessive adjective must agree in gender and in number with the noun that it is referring to, just like any other adjective, rather than the person who the noun belongs to.


PROCEDURE: Divide your class into 2 teams and have them take turns calling out the cards on the powerpoint presentation. They will specify which card they want by calling out a letter (columns) and a number (row). If they call out ROW 4 COLUMN B, you would then click that card and it will flip over. You would then allow the same student to call out another card on the powerpoint presentation. If they have found a match "IL TUO - GATTO" then you would leave the card with the possessive adjective on it "IL TUO" face up and flip the card with the noun on it "GATTO" back over. Students will be able to use the cards that have been flipped over again to make another match IF they were paying attention and can remember where it is located. The cards with the possessive nouns on them that will remain face up throughout the rest of the game and have already been used for a successful match can not be used again.
If the student was unsuccessful at making a match, then you would flip BOTH cards back over so that other students can try to use them when it is their turn to make a match.

RULES: Students must take turns and they have to pay attention. In addition to knowing what matches with what grammatically, they must also memorize where the cards as they are being call on throughout the game that can be used to make a successful match! Each successful match =1pt for that team, so keep track of score because the team with the most successful matches wins!

There are 6 different slides included with this game, each one is a different game. You can use this template that I have created to add on more slides if you wish with different words or change the words i have used and add some of your own! You can even change the cards to indefinite articles and nouns, subjects and verbs, whatever concept you are teaching, as long as it involves two parts of speech that need to match!
