MAKERSPACE REFLECTIONS AND CONNECTIONS TO BC CURRICULUM COMPETENCIES

This is a BC Teacher/BC Teacher Librarian's Dream Package for Maker Space Activities. 22 Pages of BC CURRICULUM Overviews and Links to Big Ideas and Competencies. Use the 6 Station Overview sheets at each station or send home so parents can witness their child's learning. Use the separate student reflection pages to link their learning to the BC Curriculum. Finally, the end of unit evaluation pages can be filled in by students (or the teacher) to show their learning. The evaluation pages can be completed like a number line to show where the student's learning fits.

A Makerspace is a collaborative workspace inside a home, school, library or other facility that provides hands-on, creative ways to encourage students to make, design, learn, experiment, build, invent and share using a variety of STEM tools and STEAM materials.  Makerspace activities encourage students to:

• Think critically
• Brainstorm
• Collaborate
• Solve problems
• Create items
• Reflect on learning

Use these task cards with the suggested STEM building materials or use these task cards with any other Makerspace material of your choice.  There are many consumable and non-consumable Maker Space materials out there.  Collaborate with other teachers or your Teacher Librarian.   The possibilities are endless!
