Included in PDF
- Rules for the 5 games
- 7 pages of pictures linked to the topic (42 pictures)
- 2 pages of Chinese Zodiac pictures (12 pictures)
Charades - allows children to become expressive by using performing arts to act out the new vocabulary that they are learning.
20 Questions - Develop the skill of asking strategic questions in order to gain as much information as possible. Ask questions that help eliminate a broad range of possibilities with each answer. For example, start with general categories and then narrow down based on the responses.
Headbands - Can you give a well structured clue without giving away the picture on the headband? Encourage creativity in giving clues, but set boundaries to ensure fair play.
Memory Game - Working memory skills are developed alongside the vocabulary as this game is being played. Start with 8 to 12 cards and systematically build up the number of cards in the starting grid. The challenge is on! How many cards can you start with? Encourage players to use memory aids, such as creating associations or patterns to remember card positions.
Snap - The key to Snap is speed and attentiveness. Pay close attention to the cards played by all players along side playing fairly as sometimes it is a close call between players when 'snap' is called.
I hope that you have endless fun as you develop vocabulary and stimulate 21st Century Skills.
