What educators are saying

I did this activity with my Sociology students during a state testing week. They really enjoyed having a fun activity to do. Thank you!
This was a very engaging activity that my students really liked. It was fun to have a group discussion after they did it individually so we could talk about what they picked and why.

Description

Is it just me or does anyone else struggle with teaching Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs? After years of frustration trying to find a way for my students to connect the pyramid to actual real life concepts I came up with this activity.

Students will be in a scenario where they are given 1 million dollars to survive one month on a deserted island alone. They are given 40 various items to thens choose 15 to bring along. After picking their items, they will match their choices with a level on Maslow's Hierarchy.

I've had a lot of success with this activity and it actually generated a lot of great discussion as well.

*UPDATE** To help with the need for online resources, this download now contains an option for students to use a PDF that can be completed electronically.
