Students look at the picture and the word on each of the 24 slides. They click on the correct answer. They will get a message whether they are "correct" or "incorrect.". The repetitive nature of this activity helps students master identifying words with long and short vowel E sounds.

Ten of the long and short E questions have been pulled out to create an assessment. Use the newly added EASEL assessment with your students as a pre-test before teaching the long and short E sound in words or as a post-test to determine if students have mastered this skill.

How to use the activity with Google Slides™:

1. Click on the link in your resource.
2. When prompted, select ‘Make a Copy.’
3. Choose the activities you want your students to practice.
4. Share the file with your students.

How to use the activity with EASEL:

1. Click on "Preview and Assign."
2. Click on "Edit Pages."
3. Select the pages you want your students to complete by clicking in the little box to the left of each page.
4. Click "Save Changes" in the top right corner.
5. Assign to students by clicking on the "Assign" button.

There are three levels of phonics activities:

❤️ Grade 1 - supports beginning writers in Kindergarten to Grade 2

❤️ Grade 2 - supports developing writers in Grades 1 and 2

❤️ Grade 3 - supports fluent writers in Grades 2 and 3

Each level contains different phonics activities. The Short and Long E phonics activity is a Grade 1 activity and is perfect for beginning writers in Kindergarten to Grade 2.
