Description
In this Long Ago and Today Project Based Learning Social Studies unit, students learn about GENERATIONS in the PAST by INTERVIEWING their ancestors, hearing from other people who lived long ago, learning about toys and games from the past, and COMPARING them to life now.
Our current generation has lost touch with the past generation and this unit is a great opportunity to connect both all while learning about the past, reading, writing, and doing a little math. This is not a unit of worksheets, but an interactive time to learn, discuss, make, and connect with our past generation.
In this unit, there are 30 days worth of activities for your students. The students will...
Interview a family member who lived before them. Then write about what they find out.
Read and Write about toys and games of the past. And play games too!
Make TIMELINES for famous Americans as well as make their OWN TIMELINE for their lives.
Students will also learn about MANNERS from 100 years ago and practice having those same manners today.
The unit will end with a CULMINATING event for a living WAX MUSEUM where students get to showcase their ancestors or another adult that lived before them.
