Description
This workbook covers the Grade 3 Living and Working in Ontario unit in the NEW 2023 Ontario Social Studies curriculum (People and Environments).
In this workbook, students will learn many interesting things about Ontario. They will explore the provinces and territories of Canada through maps and descriptions. The workbook will teach them about land use in Ontario, including its purpose and how it is compared to other areas. They will learn about municipal governments and Indigenous reserves, including band councils. They will also discover the importance of environmental stewardship and learn about different landforms and climates.
The workbook focuses on specific regions of Ontario, such as the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Lowlands, the Hudson Bay Lowlands, and the Canadian Shield. Students will learn about the industries and life in these regions, including manufacturing, tourism, hunting, fishing, mining, and forestry. They will also explore topics like deforestation, conservation, and natural resources. The workbook encourages students to connect with their home province of Ontario.
There is a variety of readings, long and short answer questions, creative writing activities, and drawing prompts included to create a varied workbook suitable for many learning styles.
To support assessment practices, Ontario curriculum expectations are clearly identified on each page. A quiz is included at the end of the workbook.
