Description

This 60 page Middle School Literature Circle Unit is perfect for Thematic Social Justice themed Book Clubs. Literature Circle units are engaging and effective methods of reading instruction that encourage students to engage in rich conversation surrounding text and take ownership of their learning. The ready to use activities included encourage inquiry and critical thinking about social justice issues, and help you to introduce, organize, facilitate, and manage this effective reading and discussion strategy. All resources align perfectly with the common core state standards.

This thematic classroom book club unit focuses on the theme of Social Justice. It includes an extensive list of middle grade novels with various Social Justice themes, as well as guiding questions relating to Social Justice to help guide the unit.

The final project asks students to complete an in depth inquiry project. Students are asked to research the Social Justice issue relating to their novel, and create a project of their choice to help them “be the change” they want to see in the world, and bring attention to the issue.
