Description

This is a 47 page activity packet for speech-language pathologists, intervention specialists, and classroom teachers who work with moderate to severely delayed students. Daily living skills or life skills focus on functional vocabulary and skills. This unit focuses on going to the grocery store. It features many different activities to target the functional vocabulary, sequencing, comprehension and more.

Several parts of the packet are meant to differentiate between varied levels of abilities with the same packet.

The packet uses a story with the sequence of going to the grocery store, followed by activities to emphasize and practice the targeted vocabulary.

The packet features pictures only. These high quality pictures will allow your students to see real life situations include grocery store aisles and situations.

Contents:

Grocery Shopping Book: Staple pages 3-5 together to make a book that describes grocery shopping.

Vocabulary Cards: Use these cards to ask WH questions, ID vocab, identify functions, categories, etc. pages 6-7.

SHOP-O: Play this bingo game with the grocery vocabulary. pages 8-13. Use the blank board for students who can write simple words. Make the game a reading version.

Vocabulary Matching: Match the vocabulary word to the picture. page 14.

Fill In Vocabulary Books: Use the 3 different versions to differentiate for your students. pages 15-23.

WH questions: Answer these WH questions regarding grocery shopping. page 24.

Help: Complete these worksheets to work on how and when to ask for help. pages 24-27.

Pragmatics: Complete these two sheets to identify what the expected behavior is for shopping in the grocery store. Page 28-29.

Money Smart: Pages 30-32. Deciding which item to buy.

Image Search Activity: Pages 33-35. Use these sheets to complete an image search and collage with functional grocery vocabulary.

Where to Shop: Look at the pictures of stores and decide where you can buy groceries. Page 36.

Check the List: Use the images and grocery list and find which items you need.. Page 37

Where Does It Go?: Pages 38-42. Sort the food items into the correct aisle in the grocery store. Then sort where they go at home (pantry or fridge?)

Time to Pay: Page 43. Decide which form of payment to use.
