Description

This pumpkin life cycle project is just what you need to expand your pumpkin unit this fall! This project allows students to research the life cycle of a pumpkin, take notes, write a report, and complete a pumpkin craft. The pumpkin report is an ideal way for the teacher to integrate science, the reading of nonfiction texts, research, and informational writing. Students enjoy working on this pumpkin project in groups and independently, as well as in writing centers. When complete, students can fan the project into a circular shape to represent the never-ending life cycle of pumpkins.

This project is ideal for:

  • note taking practice
  • introducing research
  • for center work
  • fast finishers
  • independent projects
  • as a supplement to your science unit on life cycles

Included in the download:

  • recommended books and websites
  • sheets with spaces for taking notes about each stage in the life cycle
  • complete answer keys
  • interactive fans for publishing
  • vocabulary word wall cards

Students will:

  • Take notes on each stage of the life cycle
  • Transfer answers to fan pages
  • Cut and paste labels onto fan pages
  • Color the seed, seedling, vines, flowers, pollination example, and pumpkin
  • Cut out the fans
  • Attach with a metal brad
