Lent is a very important time of year. I want my kindergartners to understand the importance of Lent and be able to participate in this special season. So, I've created several different activities for teachers to use with their students to do just that.

Digital Ash Wednesday & Lent Book for Seesaw:

This is perfect for explaining Ash Wednesday and Lent to young children. It explains why we (Catholics) go to Mass on Ash Wednesday and get ashes in the shape of a cross on our foreheads. It also explains why we give something up or try to do something good during Lent as we get ready for Easter. All of this is explained in simple, kid-friendly language on an easy-to-use platform, Seesaw. You must have a Seesaw account to use this resource.

Ash Wednesday & Lent Book:

I've always struggled to find a book to explain Ash Wednesday and Lent to my kindergarten students in a way that helped them understand the importance of this time of year. So, I created one that did just that and now I use it with my students every year!

This is the printable version of the resource mentioned above- the Digital Ash Wednesday & Lent Book for Seesaw.

In this packet you will find:

-A full-sized book about Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent in color.

-The same full-sized book but in black and white.

-A half-sized version of the book in color.

-A half-sized version of the book in black and white.

-A few different versions of a response page.

-A slightly more generic version of the teacher book and student booklet where the word "Mass" is changed to "church."

Lenten Journey Printable Activity:

I teach Kindergarten in a Catholic school and every year I struggle to find an activity for my students to do to help them understand what Lent is all about. I teach my students that Lent is a time to get ready for Easter by trying to become better versions of ourselves. So, I created this Lenten Journey as an activity for students to do during the 40 days of Lent.

Each day students color a square and try to complete the task listed on that square. Start at the beginning and color a square each day until you get to Easter. The tasks include activities like "Help Clean," "Pray for Someone," "Compliment Someone," etc.

I have included a few different versions of the Lenten Journey. I know that many Catholic schools have one day a week where the whole school goes to Mass. Where I teach, we go to Mass on Fridays, so I made a Lenten Journey where our task on Fridays is to go to Mass and do the best we can to participate. I have included versions where the “Go to Mass” task is on other days of the week to match what your school does. I have also included a version where there is not a “Go to Mass” task in case your school does not have this opportunity. It also includes an editable version and a weekly reflection page.

Stations of the Cross:

As a Catholic School teacher, I've always wanted a booklet for my kiddos to use when we go to Stations of the Cross that makes it easy for them to follow along. I've also wanted the book to be a learning tool for them, so I created a booklet that would be just that.

This booklet includes all 15 stations. There are two different versions of this booklet. In one version students color the picture that goes with each station. In the second version, students draw their own pictures to go with each station. This booklet is a great way to introduce students to the Stations of the Cross.

This product also includes the booklet in a couple of different layouts so that you can choose the way that is most convenient for you to print and assemble the booklet.
