Sinking cities are a global issue we should be discussing with our English B students. This resource allows you to not only do that, but also explore how to create leaflets, brochures & pamphlets; perfect for Paper 1 practice.

This digital Google Slides file provides a comprehensive overview of the text types, along with an engaging writing prompt about sinking cities that students use to create their own leaflet/brochure or pamphlet.

How it works:

1. The powerpoint presents a partially hidden graph for students to analyse. They make conclusions about what the graph could be about.
2. They are then shown the entire graph (about sinking cities), which contains data to be used later on.
3. There is an overview of leaflets, brochures & pamphlets as a text type, and students are given a writing prompt about sinking cities.
4. They create a leaflet/brochure/pamphlet about sinking cities, using data from the previous graph & their own research. Rubrics are included.

This resource can be used as formative or summative assessment and is a fantastic way for students to develop critical thinking and writing skills. It is perfect practice for Paper 1, as rubrics based on language, message & conceptual understanding are included.
