Description

The Cherry Blossom Festival is celebrated in Japan in late March or early April depending on when the cherry blossoms bloom.

This nonfiction text in French and set of comprehension questions can be used as part of Asian Heritage Month in May or anytime you would like to infuse Asian culture and heritage into your lessons.

You can use these Google Slides as part of a guided reading lesson on finding information in nonfiction texts. You can also have students access the text on their own devices and use it as part of a literacy center.

The text includes the history of cherry blossom festivals in Japan, explanations of the words hanami and sakura, foods eaten during the festival, symbolism of the cherry blossoms and activities that take place in Japan.
