Description

Are you looking for a way to launch a writer's workshop in your classroom but unsure of how to get going? This bundle will provide you with the tools to get started in your kindergarten or first grade classroom.

Included are 9 anchor charts to use throughout the year. You will start by focusing on what writers do from thinking of an idea, to talking about it, drawing it, writing it and sharing. The anchor charts will also teach how to draw a detailed picture and check to see you have enough details which is perfect for peer conferencing. Also included is a detailed chart to teach how to sound out a word. Your young writers will also learn how to be detectives always looking for writing idea clues! Each anchor chart is explained with teaching tips.

I have included a teaching guide to follow that outlines how to schedule your writing block including tips on running writing conferences. I've pulled what has worked in my kindergarten classroom based on Lucy Calkin's Units of Study and Matt Glover's work.

Also included are 10 write-to-a-topic sheets to use to collect writing samples or to make an "All About Me" book. These can also be helpful when planning for a guest teacher.
