Description
Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by having students research Latino/Latina environmentalists, conservationists, advocates, and activists and their contributions to environmental causes of all kinds! This research-based collaborative slideshow can be used between September 15-October 15 to explore Hispanic contributions to environmentalist movements or anytime during the year to encourage students’ skills of researching and presenting information with a special focus on contributions of Latinx environmentalists.
This product includes a Google Slides template with directions, an example slide, and 15 Latinx environmentalists for students to research as a group or independently. Prominent environmentalists from all over Latin America and the United States are included along with an interactive map of Latin America and the environmentalists’ nationalities.
This project is great for distance learning or as an asynchronous project but can also be used for in person class. The slideshow requires no editing and can be uploaded directly to your online platform for students to work on collaboratively or independently. The directions are provided in both English and Spanish and would be suitable for English speakers as well as English Language Learner (ELLs)/English as a Second Language (ESL) students. This product is appropriate for middle to high school aged students and can be used in an Environmental Science, History/Social Studies, Spanish, English/Language Arts (ELA), or English Language Development class.
