Description

Are you working with an /R/ articulation student who is past the sentence level? Are you always looking for engaging nonfiction readings where students can learn something new AND practice their /R/ sounds? This packet is perfect for groups with /R/ students and students with language goals. There are a variety of readings based on science standards focusing on landforms (peninsulas, bays, wetlands and more). Each /R/ loaded reading is full of helpful information about this topic AND includes vocabulary and comprehension questions.

This packet has a landforms theme. That means that students will be learning as they practice their /R/ sounds.

Sentences and readings in this packet are functional and informative. Each reading also comes with vocabulary words and definitions and comprehension questions so students can practice their articulation skills in structured Q & A activities after the reading.

This 20-page packet includes:

- 30 /R/ sentences

- 7 100 word readings

- 6 250 word readings

- 3 500 word readings

That's a total of 16 /er/ reading passages, plus those vocabulary words and definitions (have your student practice using the vocabulary words in a sentences) and questions for each reading where students can practice using their "strong R sound" and talking about the reading.

This product is print and go, requires no prep, and students can go home with the readings for homework. This is the perfect /r/ in readings activity for the low-prep SLP. This is ideal for telepractice and screensharing as the reading, vocabulary and comprehension questions are all on one page, so no clicking back and forth during the session.

Due to the reading level of this product, it is recommended for fourth grade reading level and up.

These informative nonfiction texts give students a chance to practice their /R/ sounds in a reading that is very much like something they might read in class. If you like this unit, you'll also like this /ER/ earthquakes and thunderstorms unit.
