Description

This was originally the proof of concept spreadsheet for my brain scan lab. I realized that it might be useful on its own as an activity. You have to have excel to make this work,…I guess you might be able to use it with google sheets but I don’t know.

Open the spreadsheet, and hit F9 to get a fresh “scan.”

Areas with the most “activity” “light up.” You can edit the spreadsheet and change the colors if you want,…not sure that is necessary but it is fully editable.

So how might you use this?

Maybe you use it as a quiz or test.

-Ok student, I am going to show you a brain scan and you have to tell me what regions are active, and what task the subject might be doing. Maybe they have a day or two to gather resources and this is a presentation in front of the class,…Dr. Whoever has to say that this-and-such brain region is active and the subject might be doing x.

-Maybe if they use any resource they can earn 80%, and they have to take whatever scan you give them.

-If they use their notes and text from class they can earn 90%, and they can have 3 chances at scans,….NOTE THAT THERE IS NO WAY TO GO BACK TO A PREVIOUS SCAN,…(unless you let the students take a picture).

-If they use only their memory they can earn 100%, they can cycle through 5 scans in hopes they get one they like.

Maybe you put them in groups, hit F9 and that is the group’s scan. They take an image and spend the period saying what regions are active and what the subject might be doing. If that sounds too easy you can give them a couple “scans” to work out. Maybe there are 5 scans for the group.

I had to say there were a certain number of pages to list this,...there are an infinite number of scans you can create, I put 1000 because I could not put the infinity symbol.
