What educators are saying

This was a fun activity to use towards the end of our unit! (Nous Sommes Unit 8) The students liked checking out the menus to see the different types of poutine. Merci!
The students LOVED this unit and researching on the website of an authentic restaurant which many of them said they plan to visit! I've eaten there a couple of times, so was thrilled to find this resource! very useful for vocab and comprehension.

Description

Looking to add a cultural lesson on la poutine to your classroom? Through this webquest, your students will discover Québec's most famous dish by visiting the website of a popular restaurant that specializes in poutine in Montréal. Perfect to use as a resource for your substitute teacher as it requires no prep and can be used in isolation!

Who is this for?

✓ Online students

✓ In-person students (who have access to a device)

How it works:

Students will be given links to the poutine restaurant’s website and a worksheet with questions. They will first reflect on what they know about poutine (pre-reading questions), then explore the website (during reading questions) and finally invent their own poutine (post-reading questions).

The very last question asks students to imagine they are going to go to Montréal to eat poutine this weekend and to write a few sentences about that using the futur proche. However, the resource is 100% editable and so you can easily switch this verb tense to one you have been using in class (futur simple, passé composé etc).

You can assign this to students online by giving them a copy of the resource as it is in Google Slides format. Alternatively, you can print the pages for an in-person class providing that students have access to a device to visit the website.
