What educators are saying

This was a great assessment to use at the beginning of the year, middle and end of the year for those struggling students.

Description

I print this out 2 sided on card stock and assess each child monthly on the sight words they are able to read. I use a different color marker each month so that I can tell which month they learned each word. This has come in handy at conferences to quickly show times of rapid or slow growth.

The children participate in coloring the goal graph on the back. I use card stock so that the kids' markers don't bleed through. They love coloring it to show their progress and sometimes it gets a little damp. Then I help them set a reasonable goal for the next month and make a small line there on the next column so they can see if their attained their goal. My students have loved this ownership of their list and most of them know all the words by the end of the year.

I know that the state of Texas says they need 24 words but they can read so much easier with this list of words.
