We love playdough activities in the classroom! They promote creativity, hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, improve social skills, and so much more. This March-themed Playdough Challenge is sure to bring fun into your classroom! And because it comes with three exciting game modes to choose from, it's very versatile and can be used as a center, small group, or even whole group activity.
How does it work?
- Individual Players: In this game mode, players work individually to complete the playdough challenge card. Each player gets the same amount of time to complete their sculpture and then they each get two votes to choose the best sculpture. They are not allowed to vote for themselves. I normally just give each student two mini erasers to put next to the sculpture they want to vote for. Whichever sculpture gets the most votes, wins! The winner gets to select the next challenge card.
- Groups: In this game mode, players work together in teams of 2-4. They have to work to complete the ‘group challenge cards’. Their goal is to add as many details as possible to their scene or sculptures. Each team gets the same amount of time to complete their sculpture and then each team gets two votes to choose the best sculpture. They are not allowed to vote for their team. Whichever team gets the most votes, wins! The winners get to select the next challenge card.
- Minute to win it!: In this game, individuals only have one minute to make the sculpture shown. They don’t have to use the same color shown, but their sculpture needs to resemble (as closely as possible) the image shown.
