Kindergarten & Beginning of the Year 1st Grade Seasons Passages & Worksheets

This Four Seasons pack includes reading comprehension passages and writing activities for young learners.

The reading passages are written at Guided Reading Level D (DRA Level 4), making them appropriate for use at the end of kindergarten or at the beginning of first grade. They are perfect for Very First Close Reading lessons, as they give young readers an opportunity to read short passages and answer text-based questions. Each set of questions is provided in two formats. In the first format, students find the answer in the text and underline the answer in the color shown. The second sheet has identical questions presented in a traditional format.

The writing prompts include opinion and narrative pieces. This pack also supports the science curriculum, as students name and learn about the four seasons.

This Seasons packet includes:

★ A reading comprehension passage about each season.

★ 4 text-based multiple choice questions for each passage.

★ A structured writing response for each of the four seasons.

★ A poster for each of the four seasons.

★ A sheet on which students label each of the four seasons.

★ A writing prompt through which students identify their favorite season and tell why they like it best. Two versions of the writing prompt are included: a structured response version for students who need it and a free response version for students who are able to construct their answer independently.
