Description

This Kindergarten April Tac Toe Center is another way to sprinkle some fun into your ELA and Math activities! The rule is simple: Match the call card to the word, letter, or number on your tic tac toe card and get three in a row to win! This activity covers 2 ELA and 2 Math skills, namely 'i_e' words, 'o_e' words, positional words, and addition and subtraction within 10. Perfect as a center, small group activity, whole class activity, early finisher, and more!

How does it work?

The teacher picks a call card from the pile, reads it, and shows it to the class (or shows the slide from the slideshow version). The students must find the matching answer on their tic tac toe card and color the corresponding square. The first student to get three in a row in any direction (vertically, horizontally, or diagonally) wins! You can also modify the rules depending on the needs of your classroom, such as setting a specific number of call cards to complete before a winner is declared, modifying the game for 2 players, and so on.

What is included?

Each skill covered in this activity comes with the following:

  • 20 unique tic tac toe cards
  • 9 call cards (with color and black and white options)
  • A slideshow version of the call cards. In presentation mode, click on the arrow on the call card to generate the next slide in random order. The slideshow is set to loop continuously until you press 'Esc'.
