What educators are saying

I used this for a sub lesson plan - it made prep so much easier! Loved the step by step lesson plan - easy to give to and adapt for sub. Thank you for this resource!

Description

This lesson is an exploratory activity for creative movement with the piece Kangaroos from Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saens. It is geared towards K-2 but can easily be adapted for upper grades. It is designed for developing music listening skills, creating movement, and can also be used for identifying staccato and legato sounds.

The presentation guides students through a fun listening and movement activity that encourages them to create movements to match the contrasting sections of this piece. After moving, students complete a printable listening puzzle included in a variety of sizes. The presentation ends with a brief history of the piece and composer. Finally, send students home with two included review worksheets to share the piece with their family and friends.

Included in this package:
*PowerPoint with some editable text and blank slides.
*PDF copy of PowerPoint presentation
*Teacher’s guide
*Suggested lesson plan sequence
*Printable listening puzzle in 3 sizes
