    Description

Here's a bundle with several ways to practice writing K or C at the beginning of a word! Students need to learn whether they should write a k or a c at the beginning of a word early on in most Orton Gillingham Science of Reading programs. This bundle is a great supplemental resource to any phonics program. You can use these activities for small group intervention, literacy centers, phonics review with homework, morning work, or RTI.

    Here's What's Included:

Write the Room K vs. C Sorts Matching & Writing the Do I Write K or C?

    • Word Sort with Headers- students sort 14 words

    • Matching- students match the picture to the word 4 pages with 5 pictures and 5 words on each page (the 4th page only has 3 words and pictures)

    • Write the Room- Teacher posts the picture cards with spellings around the room. Students find the word and write it on the line OR they can fill in the Elkon Boxes. (There's 2 different recording sheets provided for the different levels of your classroom). I like to print the worksheets double-sided so students will complete ALL cards/words!

The teacher may want to laminate the cards to make them last longer! I always print on cardstock as well! This makes them sturdier!

    K or C Puzzle Activity

    • Do your students need extra practice with deciding to write a K or a C at the beginning of a word? This is a great hands on activity to support independent practice of this skill in the classroom.

This packet includes 20 k vs. c Spelling Rule Puzzle Practice along with 2 recording worksheets. One recording sheet has 16 spot for students to write and the other is a sort.

There are 2 puzzles per page, making each puzzle about 1/2 a sheet of paper. I would cut these out and laminate before student use so they last longer. I find it best to print on cardstock and with 5mm Lamination paper for the strongest hold.
